A haunting drama about the unreliability of memory and the mystery of immortality.
A Pulitzer Prize finalist, Jordan Harrison’s Marjorie Prime, takes place at an unspecified point in the future, when intelligent computerized versions of deceased loved ones (known as “Primes”) have emerged as a method to provide comfort to those they’ve left behind.
Eighty-six-year-old Marjorie spends her final, ailing days with a much younger digital version of her deceased husband. As their relationship deepens, her memory continues to fade. Marjorie’s daughter and son-in-law, must decide if Marjorie should be reminded of a painful incident in her past or if it should be white-washed in order to ease her last days.
“Marjorie Prime has all of the hallmarks of the best science fiction; it’s clever…alive with humor, surprising and terribly haunting” - The New Yorker
