Boeing Boeing, a French farce written in 1960, centers on Bernard who lives the swinging bachelor life in Paris during the era when air travel was considered glamorous.  Bernard has three fiancés, all of whom are airline stewardesses for different airlines , and who don’t know of each other’s existence because they have different schedules.  When an old friend, Robert, arrives for an unexpected visit he gets mixed up in the chaos when the lady’s schedules -and the ladies- collide.

The production will open at the Phoenicia Playhouse on Oct. 11th, and run for three weekends, it will then transfer to the Orpheum Theatre in Tannersville for two performances on the weekend of November 1st.  Actors will be payed a $250 stipend for the Orpheum Performances.

We are also looking for a stage manager.

Rehearsals will begin mid to late August.

Actors must be comfortable doing physical comedy and be able to master a foreign accent.

SEEKING:

BERNARD:  30-50. American. A confident, swinging bachelor who also meticulously manages a complicated schedule of the comings and goings of his fiancés.  He completely falls apart when his schedule does the same.

ROBERT: 25-45.  American or British.  Bernard’s out-of-town friend.  Innocent and naive when he arrives but learns to love the chaos and excitement of the situation, he becomes dangerously confident and flirtatious.

BERTHE:  30-65.  French. Bernard’s maid.  Nervous and overwrought as she witnesses Bernard’s juggling of the three women in his life.  Completely loses it, when things go off the rails.

GLORIA: 25-45. American.  One of Bernard’s fiancés.  A “modern” 60s woman, she speaks her mind and can be a little abrasive. TWA.

GABRIELLA: 30-55. Italian. Hot-headed, stubborn and passionate, she has a warm, romantic side. Al Italia.

GRETCHEN: 25-45. German.  Loud and over-powering, but capable of intense romantic desire. Lufthansa.
